As an Andalusian-American artist my work references a range of influences from the South of Spain and upstate New York — living between the Mediterranean and the Catskill Mountains has embedded in me an iconography of natural references, opposites that come together, providing a background for creative self-expression.
I find drawing different mediums together something natural. I worked mostly on Mixed Media (Drawing, Painting, Collage, Etching, Mono-types…) until I discovered Encaustics… It was in 2003 when my exploration of painting with beeswax and love affair with Encaustics began.
My career track spans 13 years in the New York Advertising industry with agencies such as Y&R or Draftfcb. I pursued Art graduate courses at Hunter College and art classes at the Arts Student League of New York and Woodstock School of Arts. I graduated cum laude from Mount Holyoke College with a Bachelor of Arts and hold a MIA from Columbia University.
My work has also been featured in Encaustic in the 21st Century http://www.schifferbooks.com/
